2026 100 Day Project – Days 15-21
I find participating in The 100 Day Project to be good for me in many ways; some of them are expected and others are surprising. This project forces me to commit to something and actually get it done. It causes me to focus on one thing and not jump from project to project, and it it invites me to create something every day. Sometimes I can embrace each of those things for the good they bring and sometimes, like this week, those same things become baggage I travel with on the struggle bus. I’m not sure what my issue was this past week, but every collage felt difficult to create. Nothing felt right and nothing looked right to me. The good thing is that the point of this project is to just keep going and try to focus on the process rather than the product. And that is what I did.
Each day I’d thumb through my basket of potential collage material. Several days it felt like digging through the trash can looking for something that maybe wasn’t trash despite that every single piece in there had been “discarded” at some point. I’ve been passing over these same pieces for a couple weeks now so it seems like what is left truly is “the bottom of the barrel.” But, it is what I’ve got so my creativity, my patience, and my inner critic were severely challenged this week. The good news is that I soldiered on and created something. And that is the point. Keep going for one hundred days. Eventually you will make something “good.”
This next week is spring break for me. I am hoping that I will get some creative projects done. In doing that, I should have some new “material” for my basket of misfit paper pieces. Some new sparks should make the creative process a bit smoother this week.
I recently had an article published in Strawberry Moon Magazine an amazing and beautiful publication dedicated to art journaling.

This particular issue, #10, is on “collage from A to Z.” A talented and varied group of artists each contributed entries from A to Z focusing on many aspects of collage.

Both the information and the inspiration throughout the magazine are incredible. Topics range from the practical as in supplies and techniques to creative composition and everything in between.
I wrote the entry on “Doodling.”

One of the things I wrote about is how the process of doodling loosens up the body and mind and allows you to move from being paralyzed by the blank page to being fully engaged in flow state. I need to follow my own advice during my spring break week and find my flow. I am slowly working my way through this issue of Strawberry Moon and can feel the surge of creative energy. Hopefully that means that the creating this next week will not be quite as challenging as the past week.
If you are interested in checking out Strawberry Moon Magazine, here is the contact information. It is avalable in both print and digital format.
Lastly, here are Meditations #15-#21. Several of them contain practice attempts at Zentangle patterns. If you are not familiar with Zentangle you can read about it out here. I think that my pull toward the Zentangle shapes this week was a subconscious need to maintain a sense of structure and form in my thoughts and feelings. It is when they are all over the place that I struggle the most creatively.
